hehehe, I could not resist it. As a dedicated Doctor Who fan, I must say that thinking this morning about my blog and what to write today and thinking back about the title of my last blog, I was thinking back about the Doctor Who mini episodes that are part of Season Six.
Sadly I do not think that any of these episodes are available on youtube, but just on the Season Six DVD (regardless, if you want to find them, there are way of course but I am not going to jeopardise my blog telling you how); the episodes are called `Good night, First Night, Last Night, and Up all Night”. Of course as I have done before in “Kitten near the fireplace“, I am stealing a title somewhat.
First of all I would wish everyone reading this blog a very happy New Year and all the best wishes for 2013. It seems that we have staved on another apocalypse and I think with the ones I have survived in 2012 so far, this is rapidly something becoming I think we should all be able to put on our resumes as a marketable skill. Pretty much in line with me winning the Nobel Peace Price. Thank you, thank you, it was really nothing. Okay, so the whole Nobel Peace price was won on behalf of the European Union but hey, since I seem to be part of that conglomeration, I guess to an extend we should feel if we all won it. At least, that is my story and I am sure sticking to it.
To have a quick look back at the previous years in blogging, it has obviously escaped no-ones attention that as mentioned before that I write more regularly and with more ease (the latter being pretty much an internal affair since my dear readers mostly do not get to see that part of the equation).
One of the nice things of WordPress however is that they give you a neat overview at the end of the year of how your blog has done. In the last year I have posted 45 times all in all, compared to 2 times in 2011. The amount of times my blog has viewed has grown from 13,000 to 15,000 times! While in 2011 people were still looking for my butt, rubber-dolls and latex, in 2012 people looked for me specifically, and still rubber dolls and latex remained firmly popular. The most popular blog-post by far seemed to have been the one I did about setting tasks in D/s relationships, a topic I might actually revisit when I have the time.
And thus, thank you all for a wonderful year past and I am really looking forward to sharing more of my knowledge and whatever pops into my brain for the weeks to come. As always of course, if you have suggestions, want to know my opinion about something etcetera, then by all means, please do leave a comment or grab my attention in any other way.
What can you expect in the coming year? Well more of the usual really, as I mentioned I want to extend my exploration of tasks possible within D/s relationships and maybe especially focused on tasks in Second Life (I so know I am going to regret that) and perhaps make a differentiation between actual tasks and tasks of a more mental nature. What do I mean by this? keep reading my blog and you’ll find out!
Another topic that I plan on revisiting will be the topic of consent as used in BDSM. This still comes up occasionally as people not entirely getting what consent involves and how consent and even more importantly assent is so at the heart of that what we do.
Of course I will also endeavour to work on my creative writing and getting some of the stories finished that have been sitting around in the pipeline for far too long. Chief amongst those of course is the story of “Self Control“, but I have recently been somewhat challenged to write a story of a much darker style in BDSM. I will have to see if I can pick up the gauntlet without doing away with my normal style. One of the things I often find is that the coarser, by lack of a better word, a story gets, the harder it becomes to write it for me. Perhaps this says a lot more about me, but it is an interesting challenge and like I said I may see if I can turn this into something I can set
Speaking of writing, recently I found a couple of wonderful BDSM type romance novels. And no, stop groaning please. These are really really good, and are miles above the kind of drap that was fifty shades. It is not often that I actually do book reviews on my blog, but for once these books really do make it worth it.
I am talking about the Original Sinners Series by Tiffany Reisz. The story is about Nora Sutherlin, a writer by daytime and New York’s most wanted and most feared Dominatrix by night. She’s hot, funny, possibly quite mad (but that is not necessarily a bad thing) and belongs to an elitists night club called the 8th Circle. Which happens to be run by her ex-lover and Dominant, who also happens to be a priest. Nora wants to publish her book big time, but her a no-nonsense serious London editor want her to make changes.
The above only pertains to her first book, The Siren, in the meantime, she also published The Angel, and her third book: The Prince and is currently working on her fifth book, The Priest while her her fourth book, The Mistress is currently with her editor and is planned for release in August. The dynamics in her books are wonderful, realistic and crazy, scary and confrontational. The books are just not well written. They are funny, realistic (unlike the author of fifty shades, the authoress of this series actually has BDSM experience and is a switch in her own right.
Ever had a book so intense that you feel completely drawn in? That the characters feel so real, that you come to love them, adore them, hate them, admire them, love them all over again? That is what reading these three books felt like. And the surprise in book three, almost made me throw my phone again the wall in frustration *laughs* (I read ebooks on kindle on my phone .. I am weird that way).
So if you want to have decent read, enjoyable and believable, get yourself a copy of these books.
And that is what you can expect in the next couple of months on my blogs. I hope to see you lot commenting as well. As I mentioned before, ask questions, do suggestions, it all does make me happy. I am looking forward to writing more and stretching my creative muscles a bit in the coming year but for now,
Take care, enjoy your reading and have fun
lexi.
